Leica Camera's CEO position is changing from Matthias Hirsch to Andreas Foll. Andreas Foll is a highly skilled manager who has previously served as COO of IWC and CEO of the Fisher Group. Upon assuming the role, he announced five strategic priorities for his term.
A new chapter in Leica's history begins with a new CEO.
Andreas Fol will assume the position of CEO of Leica Camera Factory, effective April 1, 2026. He will succeed Matthias Hirsch, who has led Leica since 2017, and will take on the responsibility of managing Leica. Building upon the solid foundation that Hirsch built as a global premium brand in the fields of photography and optics through his strong leadership, and his achievements in expanding into new business areas, Fol will take Leica to a new stage. Hirsch will continue to be involved as an advisor on some projects.
Andreas Folle began his career as a management consultant at Roland Berger, and subsequently held various management positions at IWC, including serving as COO. Most recently, he served as CEO of the Fischer Group in Waldachtal, Germany.
The five strategic priorities outlined for his term as CEO of Leica are: "Expanding digital and connected imaging solutions," "Further strengthening the premium product portfolio," "Strengthening global sales and retail capabilities," "Strengthening partnerships in mobile imaging and optics," and "Sustainable corporate governance and responsible manufacturing."
Regarding his intention to lead Leica to a new stage that balances its exceptional technical capabilities with maintaining its unique brand identity, Fol said, "Leica is a unique company that embodies precision, craftsmanship, design, and photographic culture. I am honored to take on the responsibility of this exceptional company. Together with the team, I will strengthen our innovative capabilities, drive digital transformation, and further enhance our international presence."
