Roger Dubuis, co-founder of Roger Dubuis, passed away on October 17, 2017. Following his passing, Roger Dubuis made the following announcement:
"Our founder, Roger Dubuis, passed away today at the age of 79. His extraordinary experience in fine watchmaking, his disruptive vision and his human values will always remain in our hearts, and we are all committed to keeping his unique spirit alive in the brand. Roger's passing is a great loss for us and the watch community, and our thoughts are with his family and those closest to him." (Translated by Chronos editorial team)
Roger Dubuis founded his company with businessman Carlos Diaz in 1995. He left Roger Dubuis in 2004, but returned in 11 when the company became part of the Richemont Group. Since then, he has been active as an advisor on product and movement development. For example, many of the complicated watches released by Roger Dubuis in recent years were developed by designer Gregory Bretin with his advice.
Roger Dubuis possessed extraordinary experience and a passion for timepieces. He was one of the most important watchmakers, connecting the past and present of watchmaking. We offer our deepest condolences.
