MOVADO has unveiled "The Heritage 1917," a new addition to its "Heritage" collection. This model is a modern reinterpretation of Movado's first square watch, which was released in 1917. The original model featured Art Deco lines, a dial bordered with a railway minute track, and Arabic numeral indices, and this new model celebrates that historical design while giving it a modern styling.
Since its founding in 1881, Movado has designed Swiss-made watches that reflect the style, spirit, and innovation of each era. The Heritage Collection draws inspiration from the company's long history archives, bringing vintage icons back to life for the modern age.
The Heritage 1917, added to this collection, reflects the Art Deco style of the original model with its straight-line bezel and corresponding case silhouette, while being crafted into a modern men's size of 45.2mm vertically and 35mm horizontally. The dial features a sunburst gradient, and the combination of bar and Arabic numeral indices, along with the dauphine-shaped hour and minute hands, gives it a modern finish.
Four variations were announced for the debut. The more modern bracelet version comes with a dark vintage blue dial, a lighter shade of blue dial, and a charcoal dial with a gold-colored bezel and indices. The green dial model is paired with a vintage-inspired cognac-colored leather strap.
The movement is a Sellita Cal.SW200 automatic movement. The case back is made of sapphire crystal, allowing you to admire the operation of the Cal.SW200.
