Chanel has unveiled its new high jewelry collection, "Signes & Symboles," themed around the numerous "symbols" that are central to the creations of its founder, Mademoiselle Chanel. Composed of 85 masterpieces across four categories, the collection reinterprets motifs that adorned Gabrielle Chanel's life—such as camellias, stars, the sun, and lions—through the finest gemstones and exceptional savoir-faire.
Four stories woven by precious stones
Chanel unveiled its new collection, "Signes & Symboles," which consists of 85 pieces of high jewelry.
This collection is presented in four chapters: "Les Imprimés," "Le Lion Emblématique," "Les Bijoux Talismans de Chanel," and "Les Symboles." Each chapter expresses "symbols" associated with Gabrielle Chanel, such as the lion in the constellation, shooting stars streaking across the night sky of France where she spent her childhood, and talismans that combine luxurious jewels with simple items.
Chapter 1, Les Enprimées, showcases symmetrical jewelry incorporating repeating patterns of various symbols such as lions, camellias, stars, and the sun. The highlight is the "Imprimé Lion" necklace. At the center of the white gold necklace is a three-dimensional lion created with diamond settings, topped with a 20.66-carat octagon-cut blue sapphire.
In addition to the aforementioned lion motif and blue sapphires, brilliant-cut or emerald-cut diamonds are set in a flowing manner.
The second chapter, Le Lion Umbrellamatic, is inspired by the lion, Mademoiselle's zodiac sign and a symbol of the brand's high jewelry since 2012. The collection includes sculptural brooches featuring numerous colored gemstones and graphic necklaces incorporating onyx, all reflecting the strength and majesty of the lion.
This ring combines a 9.41-carat oval-cut ruby with an onyx-based lion motif. It features a transformable design, allowing the two pieces to be worn together or individually.
Chapter 3, "Les Bijoux Talisman de Chanel," is inspired by the story of Mademoiselle Chanel wearing jewelry as amulets (talismans). In this chapter, which features delicately carved amulets, the use of materials such as turquoise, carnelian, and white ceramics creates vibrant colors and a unique individuality.
This necklace combines a star motif pavé-set with yellow sapphires and a camellia motif sparkling with a 3.57-carat diamond.
In the final chapter, "Les Symbols," all the symbols that represent Mademoiselle Chanel are expressed through a variety of gemstones and bold contrasts. For example, the "Symbole Étoile" necklace combines garnet and tanzanite beads, with imperial topaz, which Chanel calls "golden water," standing out prominently among them.
This necklace features a striking 26.21-carat imperial topaz. Part of the chain is detachable, allowing it to be worn as a short necklace and a bracelet separately.
A ring featuring a 10.32-carat oval-cut diamond framed with pink sapphires. The design is inspired by the camellia, a flower beloved by the company's founder.
