Kamine, a watch and jewelry store with 10 locations in Kobe today, began its history in 1906 when Ginsuke Kamimine started a business dealing in goldwork and hairpins. The second generation, Kaoru, started selling and repairing watches, and the company has steadily grown its reputation, walking hand in hand with the city of Kobe, through the third generation, Tamotsu, and up to the current President and CEO of Kamine Co., Ltd., Toru, through the years, including the damage caused by the Kobe air raids during World War II.
Kamine will celebrate its 120th anniversary in 2026. To commemorate this milestone, they are launching a special project "with gratitude for the journey so far, and looking towards a future that will be passed on to the next generation."
Three brands announce 120th anniversary models.
Our main focus is the release of 120th-anniversary models. A total of four limited-edition models are scheduled to be released from three brands: Grand Seiko, NAOYA HIDA & Co., and Laurent Ferrier. The Grand Seiko "Evolution 9 Collection," which has never produced limited editions in the past, now features a Kamine 120th Anniversary model with a stamped dial that mimics the shimmering waves of the port city of Kobe.

NAOYA HIDA & Co. will release a model developed entirely in collaboration with Naoya Tobita, the brand's founder and former Japan representative for FP Journe and Ralph Lauren Watches and Jewelry, which combines the identities of both NAOYA HIDA & Co. and Kamine.

Laurent Ferrier will be releasing two completely one-of-a-kind models. Both models feature dials crafted by artists who have inherited the highest level of technical skill.

Furthermore, a 120th anniversary model launch event will be held at The Orient Kobe on Friday, June 5th. The event will include a talk show featuring brand representatives involved in the production of each commemorative model, HODINKEE Japan editor-in-chief Yu Sekiguchi, and Chronos Japan editor-in-chief Masayuki Hirota, as well as a casual chat session with HODINKEE Japan deputy editor-in-chief Shoji Wada. Men's fashion writer Naoyumi Maruyama will appear as the MC, making for a star-studded lineup befitting the company's 120th anniversary.
