Kurono Tokyo has announced a new model, "MALACHITE," to commemorate the brand's 7th anniversary. Orders for this model will be accepted for a limited time only, in the morning and afternoon, on Thursday, May 28th, 2026, on the Kurono Tokyo official website. While Kurono Tokyo often sells its watches in limited quantities, all orders for this model will be accepted during the period. This is a chance to secure a watch from the brand. Additionally, a preview of the actual watch and pre-orders are being held at the Aoyama Salon from May 20th.
The dial is made of malachite, also known as peacock stone. This mineral is characterized by its unique green color resulting from the oxidation of copper, and has a history of being used as a pigment in Japanese painting. In this model, malachite is placed in the center, and a gently curving brass ring-shaped part with a color derived from verdigris is combined around the outer edge to create a domed dial that is characteristic of Chrono Tokyo. The design also features Japanese-inspired elements such as the indexes adorned with kanji characters representing the twelve zodiac signs and the brand logo in katakana.
Malachite, being a natural stone, exhibits unique patterns in each individual piece. Similar to the meteorite model released in January 2026, this piece uses only high-quality malachite personally selected by Hajime Asaoka, and a red signature is placed as proof of this.
The case is made of 316L stainless steel with a diameter of 37mm. It is composed of polished, smooth curves, and fitted with a box-shaped sapphire crystal that harmonizes with its lines. Inside is a Miyota automatic movement, Cal. 90S5, a thin, versatile movement that Hajime Asaoka trusts.
