Tiffany & Co. has unveiled the "Tiffany Eternity" Enamel Clematis Watch as its newest timepiece. This high jewelry watch combines the brand's exceptional expertise in gemstones, craftsmanship, and heritage.
The design was inspired by an elaborate clematis-themed lamp created in 1906 at the Tiffany Studios in New York. Cut colored glass pieces were joined together with copper foil and lead, giving the lamp rich colors and intricate patterns, and it remains highly regarded today as a rare and representative design piece of Art Nouveau.
The dial of this watch recreates the aquamarine and turquoise colors seen in the hanging shade, as well as the six clematis blossoms, using "plique-à-jour enamel." The translucent flowers reveal a background of snow-set diamonds, creating a fantastical sense of depth reminiscent of stained glass.
In addition, the blue floral motif in "champlevé enamel" also seen on the dial is noteworthy. The numerous petals, which appear to be fluttering in the wind, are created through an extremely meticulous process: approximately 60 tiny parts, some as small as 0.45 mm, are cut from white gold, and enamel is hand-applied to the carved recesses and then polished.
This magnificent dial is paired with a 36mm diameter 18K white gold case. The case itself is also meticulously gem-set, with a diamond snow setting across the entire sides and a bezel dazzlingly adorned with 36 baguette-cut aquamarines totaling approximately 5 carats. Furthermore, the crown is set with a 0.47-carat full-cut round diamond in a Tiffany setting.
Inside, it houses an LTM automatic movement with a power reserve of approximately 38 hours. It is a magnificent high-jewelry watch, yet it also possesses the mechanics of a mechanical timepiece.
