Zenith has unveiled the Defy Extreme Ultraviolet, which combines a matte, dark-toned titanium case with a translucent violet sapphire crystal dial. The automatic chronograph movement Cal. El Primero 9004 features two escapements and ticks at 10 vibrations per second, achieving an ultra-fast chronograph function in which the chronograph seconds hand completes one rotation per second.

Zenith has unveiled the Defy Extreme Ultraviolet, a violet-colored watch inspired by ultraviolet light, the strongest spectrum of light. This model is conceived as a reinterpretation of Zenith's unique aesthetic for color and materials, which was explored in the 2020 Defy 21 Ultraviolet.
This model's case is made of titanium with a sharp 45mm diameter, characterized by its dark color tone and matte texture achieved through micro-blasting. By suppressing surface reflection, it highlights the geometric and sculptural form that is the design code of the Defy. Being made of titanium, it is extremely lightweight, providing excellent wearing comfort, and is a specification that symbolizes the advanced nature of the Defy Extreme.

The most distinctive feature is the violet-colored dial, which creates visual depth through a geometric multi-layered structure combining violet-colored sapphire crystal elements with color-matched sub-dials, symbolizing the precision of this timepiece. The design prioritizes transparency, highlighting the movement structure located at the bottom of the dial.
Another noteworthy feature is the heart of this timepiece. The automatic chronograph movement, Cal. El Primero 9004, is equipped with two escapements: one operating at 36,000 vibrations per hour (10 vibrations per second) for timekeeping, and the other operating at an astonishing 360,000 vibrations per hour (100 vibrations per second) to control the chronograph function. This allows the central hour and minute hands and the small seconds subdial at 9 o'clock to be driven at 10 vibrations per second, while the central chronograph seconds hand completes one rotation per second, achieving an ultra-high-speed chronograph function. It also features a dial configuration specialized for precise measurement, with a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock and a 60-second counter at 6 o'clock. Furthermore, in keeping with the Ultraviolet theme, the rotor and bridges of the Cal. El Primero 9004 in this timepiece are also violet-colored.
This watch comes with three straps: a violet rubber strap that matches the dial color, a titanium bracelet with the same finish as the case, and a black hook-and-loop strap that gives it a stoic and sporty look. These straps can be swapped without tools. The ability to choose the right strap for a variety of occasions will broaden the possibilities for this watch.
