Exploring Blancpain's women's mechanical watches, including the new "Blancpain Lady B"
Blancpain will be holding an event called "The Blancpain Ladybird Legacy" to commemorate the launch of its new "Blancpain Lady B" watch. The event will be held at StandBy in Harajuku, Tokyo, and will be open to the public from October 17th (Saturday) to 25th (Sunday). To mark the 70th anniversary of the "Ladybird" collection, which was born in 1956, the event will showcase Blancpain's history of women's mechanical watches and its latest creation.

The Blancpain Lady B features an 18K red gold case paired with a burgundy double-tour strap. It is characterized by its small 19mm diameter case. Automatic movement (Cal. 615). 29 jewels. 21,600 vibrations/hour. Power reserve approximately 38 hours. 18K rose gold case (19.00mm diameter, 13.20mm thickness). 3 ATM water resistance. 2,420,000 yen (including tax).

This model features a stainless steel case and a classic blue double-tour strap. It boasts a warm beige opaline dial. Automatic movement (Cal. 615), 29 jewels, 21,600 vibrations/hour, approximately 38-hour power reserve. Stainless steel case (19.00mm diameter, 13.20mm thickness). 3 ATM water resistance. ¥1,584,000 (including tax).
An indispensable figure in recounting its history is Betty Pfister, considered the first woman to lead a Swiss watchmaking manufacture. Starting her career at Blancpain's workshop in 1912 and becoming a co-owner in 1933, Pfister believed that women's timepieces also needed originality and the essence of mechanical watchmaking, and she cultivated this area into Blancpain's strength.

The most iconic example of this is the "Ladybird Bullet," which was born in 1956. It was a ladies' watch equipped with the Cal.R55, which boasted the world's smallest diameter of 11.85mm for a mass-produced round mechanical movement at the time. The new Blancpain Lady B reinterprets the idea of fitting a full-fledged mechanical watch into a jewelry-sized form factor in a modern way.

The Blancpain Lady B features a 19mm spherical case and is available in stainless steel and 18K red gold. Its unique design, which eliminates lugs and allows the double-tour calfskin strap to pass directly through an integrated opening in the case, accentuates its rounded form. The strap comes in six colors: white, light beige, dark beige, burgundy, fuchsia purple, and classic blue, allowing for multiple purchases to match moods and outfits. The automatic movement is the Cal. 615, measuring 15.70mm in diameter and 3.90mm thick. It features a silicon balance spring and boasts a power reserve of approximately 38 hours.

In addition to the Blancpain Lady B, the event will showcase small mechanical movements produced in the 1950s, historical timepieces with decorative finishes, archival materials, and photographs. Furthermore, textiles specially created by textile artist Sarasa Yoshioka, who has been appointed Blancpain's new Friend of the Brand, will be unveiled, inspired by the six strap colors of the Blancpain Lady B. Through historical pieces and the latest creations, the event will introduce Blancpain's accumulated creations in women's mechanical watches.
