Hublot has unveiled the "Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons," a collaboration with contemporary artist Jeff Koons. Incorporating Koons' technique of depicting balloons with a mirror-finish sculpture, the watch features a rounded and taut design, from the case and dial to the strap, giving it the appearance of being inflated with air.

Jeff Koons' balloon dogs are part of his "Celebration" series, which began in the mid-1990s. They are balloon art dogs that are rendered with meticulous detail and a mirror-like finish.

The inspiration for this piece came from "Balloon Dog," a work from Koons' "Celebration" series. The concept was to create animals made from balloons—familiar, fragile, and temporary toys—and transform them into lasting sculptures through precise sculpting and mirror-like finishes. For this collaboration, the entire Classic Fusion design has been fundamentally redesigned to express the balloon dog's inflated form throughout the watch.

Jeff Koons is a contemporary artist who, for over 40 years, has reinterpreted familiar objects through bold scales and use of materials. His representative works include "Balloon Dog," "Rabbit," and "Puppy," and he is known for his use of mirror finishes and intricate sculpting.

What stands out is its rounded exterior, which looks as if it's inflated with air.

A distinctive feature of the exterior is the combination of an inflatable case and a thick, cushion-like strap. The rounded lines that flow from the case to the lugs, along with the three-dimensional strap, create an overall impression of a balloon's inflated shape and tension.

At the 10:30 position on the case, a rubber decorative part resembling a dog's tail is placed. The crown also combines metal and rubber, shaped to resemble a balloon blower. Furthermore, the H-shaped titanium screws lining the bezel have domed heads, and the sapphire crystal glass also has a rounded shape, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail in expressing the world of Balloon Dog. To create this form, the production of this watch utilized both 5-axis CNC machining and hand finishing.

The Classic Fusion Balloon Dog by Jeff Koons boasts the signature Classic Fusion styling, yet is almost entirely custom-designed. Even from the side of the case, you can see its air-inflated silhouette.

The dial has a plump, three-dimensional feel, and the rounded applied indices are inlaid with white Super-LumiNova in a three-dimensional manner. The hour and minute hands are also coated with similarly three-dimensional luminous paint, and the counterweight of the second hand incorporates the shape of a balloon dog. Furthermore, Koons' signature is placed at the 6 o'clock position.

Three color variations are available.

This collaboration model will be available in three color variations: silver, red, and blue. Each model is limited to 200 pieces worldwide. In addition to the colors, the materials also differ. The silver model features a mirror-finished stainless steel case combined with a polished rhodium-plated dial. The red and blue models use aluminum for the case, bezel, and dial, with a polished finish and anodized finish in each respective color. Aluminum was chosen as the optimal material to reproduce the vibrant colors characteristic of Koons' work.

The strap also incorporates the rounded form that continues from the case, giving it a cushion-like, three-dimensional feel. The silver model features a gray rubber base, finished with metallic silver polymer inserts and gray stitching. The red and blue models use rubber of their respective colors as the base, combined with metallic leather inserts and stitching in similar shades.

The Cal.HUB1710 movement can be admired through the rounded case back. The tungsten rotor, adorned with the Hublot logo, is custom-made, and shaping tungsten, a material known for being difficult to machine, into such a rounded design is an extremely challenging task.

Both models are equipped with the Cal.HUB1710 automatic movement. The tungsten automatic winding rotor has a specially designed, bulging shape for this model. The bridges and mainplate are treated with anthracite-colored ruthenium. The power reserve is approximately 50 hours, and the dial features a date display with white numerals on a black background at the 3 o'clock position.
