It's still fresh in our memory that FP Journe's "Chronograph Monopusher Rattrapante Blue" attracted the attention of those involved at the 2017 "Only Watch" charity auction. By minimizing overlapping layers and offsetting the second wheel and other gear trains, this rattrapante chronograph boasts a movement just 6.80mm thick. In an interview with Chronos Japan accompanying the announcement, François-Paul Journe stated that he was "working on a new chronograph," and the new model was finally unveiled in January 2018. Surprisingly, while retaining the performance and thinness of its predecessor, this new Caliber 1518 also features a large date. We're looking forward to hearing what Journe has to say about this model.
In terms of design, the new "Chronograph Monopusher Rattrapante" is available in three styles. A platinum 950 case is paired with a blue-mauve dial, while an 18K rose gold case is paired with a ruthenium-colored dial, each powered by an 18K rose gold movement. A grade 5 titanium case is paired with a slate-colored aluminum alloy dial, also powered by an aluminum alloy movement. The bracelet, made of the same material as the case, features shock-absorbing rubber inserts inspired by vintage car bumpers. The deployment clasp can be adjusted to within a ±5mm range.
