A new model will be released in Van Cleef & Arpels' celestial-themed "Poetic Astronomy" collection. While the only model in the lineup featuring the 12 zodiac signs was the men's "Midnight Zodiac Lumineux," 12 women's "Lady Arpels Zodiac Lumineux" have now been added. The blue enamel dial, resembling the sky, features motifs of each constellation, adorned with gold, gemstones, and enamel, while the stars, made of enamel beads, are handcrafted and placed in place.
The watch also features the company's unique "Light on Demand Module," which utilizes the piezoelectric effect, which generates an electric charge when mechanical pressure is applied to certain materials. When the built-in piezoelectric ceramic plate vibrates with the movement of the watch, it generates electrical energy, which causes the LEDs to light up. The beads are illuminated from the background, causing them to sparkle on the dial.
The collection also includes the feminine "Lady Arpels Planetarium," a watch with a planetarium motif. The aventurine dial features the Sun, Mercury, Venus, Moon, and Earth. Mercury orbits every 88 days, Venus every 224 days, and Earth every 365 days, just like their real-life speeds. The moon's 29.5-day orbit around Earth is also recreated, allowing viewers to enjoy the magnificent movement of the stars at any time. Diamonds are set on the bezel and case sides, while the day, month, and year can be viewed on the case back, which is decorated with aventurine, gold, and precious stones.
