Citizen will release two limited edition models of its high-quality watch brand, "The CITIZEN," boasting outstanding precision, equipped with a high-precision light-powered Eco-Drive movement with an annual accuracy of ±5 seconds, and featuring dials made from Tosa washi paper, one of Japan's three major types of washi paper, as well as one regular model, in August 2019.
All three models are equipped with a light-powered Eco-Drive movement with a high-precision accuracy of ±5 seconds per year, housed in a timeless, standard case design. The limited edition model has a 37.5mm case diameter, while the standard model is a slightly larger 38.4mm. The case and band are made of Citizen's proprietary Super Titanium™, which is lightweight and scratch-resistant. The thick, sturdy hour and minute hands create a powerful impression and ensure legibility. The fusion of traditional Japanese paper craftsmanship and Citizen's cutting-edge technology results in a unique model with a distinctively Japanese sensibility.
Washi paper is one of the best materials for light-powered Eco-Drive watches, which use light to power them. Its distinctive depth and warm texture make it a unique feature. The limited edition "Shinpeki" and "Shinku" models in particular stand out with their beautifully rendered dials that express traditional Japanese colors.
The watch features a solar-powered Eco-Drive movement that eliminates the need for regular battery changes and boasts a high accuracy of ±5 seconds per year. It also features Citizen's unique shock detection function to protect the hands from misalignment due to strong impacts, an automatic hand correction function that automatically corrects misalignment even if the hands do misalign, and a midnight calendar update function, ensuring accurate timekeeping as long as there is light.
■Both the limited edition and regular models feature the word "Chronomaster" at the 6 o'clock position on the dial as proof of their high precision. Furthermore, the limited edition model is a special edition with the Chronomaster's iconic "Eagle Mark" on the dial and an "Eagle Mark" medallion in the center of the case back.
