Each year, Van Cleef & Arpels creates a limited edition Vintage Alhambra pendant for the holiday season. In 2019, in partnership with the Manufacture National de Sèvres, a pendant was created that combines the vibrant colors of Celestial Blue Sèvres porcelain with yellow gold.

A rare symbol of good luck
Sèvres porcelain in Celestial Blue was chosen for the new Alhambra. This beautiful blue was one of the colors proposed when the Sèvres porcelain manufactory first produced dinnerware at the behest of King Louis XV of France in 1752. Sèvres porcelain is crafted from natural materials and pigments, and is hand-dyed by the manufactory's artisans. Its soft, smooth surface creates an exquisite luster. Creating a Sèvres porcelain Alhambra motif requires approximately 20 steps, including molding, firing, polishing, enameling, and coloring. Van Cleef & Arpels developed a special setting technique to perfectly match the Sèvres porcelain motif with its gold setting.
