A tribute model that reproduces the original design and evolves its internal structure

The Seiko Astron takes its name from the Quartz Astron, the world's first quartz watch, which Seiko launched in 1969. Launched in September 2012, the world's first GPS solar watch aims to usher in a second revolution following the quartz revolution, which transformed the lifestyles of people around the world with its high timekeeping accuracy. With a simple button press, the watch receives radio waves from GPS satellites, acquires latitude, longitude, and altitude information to pinpoint your current location, and quickly displays the accurate time for that location, no matter where you are on Earth.

To mark the 50th anniversary of the birth of the Quartz Astron, a special model is presented, conceptually recreating the design that embodies the will and expectations for the future embodied in the original model. The 18K yellow gold case not only follows the silhouette of the original, but also features the same distinctive rough-carved pattern handcrafted by skilled jewellery artisans as the original model. The pattern, which combines delicacy and masculinity, forms a circle, symbolising Seiko Astron's determination to return to its original purpose after 50 years and pioneer a new future.
