Protecting the oceans from plastic pollution
The Race for Water Odyssey and its crew, sponsored mainly by Breguet and committed to protecting the oceans from plastic pollution, arrived in Asia at the end of the year.

The adventure began in 2010, when Swiss entrepreneur Marco Simeoni founded Race for Water, which supports scientific research on the ecological balance of the oceans. After a first voyage in 2015, the foundation launched a new five-year circumnavigation in 2017, with the main objective of protecting the oceans from plastic pollution by raising public awareness. The Odyssey, an innovative vessel powered entirely by renewable energy, set sail from Brittany in April 2017 and, over the course of two years, crossed the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, calling at around 20 ports before reaching Asia. After a brief stop in Hong Kong, the ship and crew are due to arrive in Shanghai in early 2020.

Heading to Japan in 2020
In 2020, Race for Water will set sail from Shanghai to Japan and then to Tokyo, where it will stay for the entire month of July, coinciding perfectly with the Summer Olympics and making this its longest stay yet.
