In addition to its usual donations, the Richard Mille Japan Foundation will be implementing the "Richard Mille Japan Foundation Challenge Project 2020" this year, which will increase donations based on the achievements of athletes who serve as brand ambassadors.
Richard Mille Japan Foundation
Based on the belief that luxury brands have a mission to proactively support those in need, Richard Mille Japan donates to organizations both in Japan and overseas. In 2018, the company established the Richard Mille Japan Foundation, furthering its efforts.
Even before the foundation was established, Richard Mille Japan had been holding charity auctions. In 2018, they auctioned off the RM 11-03 Automatic Flyback Chronograph McLaren Special Edition Prototype (winning bid: 41,882,764 yen), and in 2017, they auctioned off the RM 030 Paris Saint-Germain Limited Edition (winning bid: 18,999,999 yen). The proceeds from these auctions have been donated to partner organizations, including the NPO Katariba, the Kumamoto Castle and Aso Shrine Disaster Cultural Assets Reconstruction Support Committee, the Japan Golf Tour Organization, the Rafa Nadal Foundation, the YB Afraid Foundation, and the Bubba Watson Foundation.
Newly added "Challenge Project 2020"
At the 2020 Rally held at the end of 2019, the athletes came up with the idea of the "Challenge Project 2020," which would increase donations based on their achievements in the sports world.
Professional golfers Yusaku Miyazato, Serena Aoki, and Misuzu Narita will receive 10,000 yen for each birdie they score on domestic and international regular tours. Professional snowboarder Tomoka Takeuchi will receive 5 million yen if she is selected to compete in the 2022 Winter World Championships. Professional driver Shinji Nakano will receive 500,000 yen for each place he places in the Pirelli Endurance Series official race, and professional driver Shinji Matsushita will receive 300,000 yen for each place he places in the Formula 2 official race. In addition, the racing teams "Team Mugen Super Formula" and "Team Mugen Super GT500," led by manager Shinji Nakano, will receive 100,000 yen for each place they place in the official race.
