H. Moser & Cie. will release two new models for 2020: the Venturer Concept Vantablack® Black Hands and the Endeavour Tourbillon Vantablack® Black Hands. Featuring dials made from Vantablack®, “one of the world’s finest black materials,” and featuring black hands, these models are the realization of last year’s April Fool’s joke.

This model features a jet-black dial that looks like a gaping hole in space. The first time Vantablack® was used on the entire dial of a watch was on the Endeavour Perpetual Moon Concept, released by the company in 2018.

H. Moser & Cie. turns lies into truth

On April Fool's Day in 2019, H. Moser & Cie. posted a picture of a watch on social media. The watch featured a jet-black dial with colored hands, making it virtually impossible to tell the time. Despite being a joke, the image garnered a huge response, resulting in a flood of requests from fans.

In response to this demand, the company created the Venture Concept Vantablack® Black Hands and the Endeavour Tourbillon Vantablack® Black Hands, available in two sizes. George-Henry Meylan, a member of the prestigious Meylan family, who currently manages the company, said, "If you're simply looking to buy something to tell the time, you're not our customer." The company clearly had a good grasp of the tastes of its customers. It listened carefully to its fans' requests and made them a reality.

Venture Concept Vantablack® Black Hands XL

Manual winding (Cal. HMC 327). 29 jewels. 18,000 vph. Power reserve approximately 72 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 43.0 mm, thickness 11.9 mm). Price: 2.9 million yen (excluding tax).

These models feature Vantablack®, a material said to be one of the world's blackest, primarily used in astrophysics and military applications. Made from extremely tiny carbon nanotubes (cylindrical carbon molecules) ten-thousandth the thickness of a human hair, Vantablack® is highly resistant to shock and vibration, yet extremely delicate. Therefore, special processing was required to create the material for the dial. The black hands are usually hidden by the black dial, making them difficult to see from a distance. However, the moment the wearer tilts their wrist, they whisper the time. Their true charm can only be experienced by those who actually own them.

 H. Moser & Cie.'s product development, based on user requests, can be said to be the result of the company's commitment to being close to its fans.
