Modern or Traditional? Two Jaquet Droz Models
Jaquet Droz has unveiled the Grande Seconde, a luxury mechanical wristwatch rooted in its tradition, in two skeletonized models: a traditional red gold case and a more modern plasma ceramic case.
Grande Seconde Skeleton Red Gold
This traditional model is presented in a red gold case with a warm copper-toned finish and an innovative alligator strap with a semi-matt finish that feels almost rubbery, its grey colour complementing the grey of the Grande Seconde's delicate movement bridge.

The 41 mm case houses a Jaquet Droz in-house caliber with a silicon balance spring, each of whose components has been meticulously skeletonized to the utmost. The entire gear train appears to be floating in mid-air, secured to a bridge that has been hollowed out to the extreme. The rotor that winds the movement is also completely openworked, except for its outer periphery, allowing a full view of the interior.
Plasma ceramic transforms white ceramic with gas heated to 20,000°C.
This contemporary model is Jaquet Droz's first timepiece to feature plasma ceramic. Created by transforming white ceramic with gases heated to 20,000°C, this material achieves its metallic luster without adding any metal particles. While the luster changes, it retains all of the essential properties of ceramic. It offers the same hardness, lightness, and scratch resistance as the widely trusted high-tech ceramic. The new plasma ceramic case, finished in gray anthracite, is presented on a modern and bold gray fabric strap.
