Girard-Perregaux has unveiled a new version of the Quasar, the Quasar Azure, with an azure blue sapphire crystal that recalls the manufacture's first bridges timepiece, created in 1867. This new model is limited to eight pieces, highlighting its rarity.

Hard sapphire is an extremely difficult material to process

The case is shaped, painted, drilled and polished by Girard-Perregaux artisans in a process that lasts more than 200 hours: once fully finished, the case has a uniform colour and is free of inclusions.

Automatic movement (Cal. GP09400-1035). 27 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 60 hours. Blue sapphire crystal case (46mm diameter, 15.25mm thick). Water resistant to 30m. Limited to 8 pieces worldwide. Price: 32,560,000 yen (excluding tax).

A tourbillon that appears to float

The world-famous La Esmeralda pocket watch with three gold bridges, made in 1889, later became an icon of the Maison thanks to its captivating functionality and design. The Quasar Azure model expresses this tradition while pursuing modernity in both materials and design. Named after the shining celestial body, the Quasar's azur blue case is carved from a single sapphire disc. The sapphire crystal box ensures ultimate transparency, allowing visitors to admire the tourbillon carriage, which appears to float in mid-air.

Tourbillon carriage weighs just 0.25 grams

The tourbillon carriage is powered by a unidirectional automatic winding system with a white gold micro-rotor. Containing 80 components, the tourbillon carriage weighs just 0.25 grams. Its low mass reduces energy consumption and increases the movement's power reserve.

Invisible micro-rotor

The micro-rotor, neatly positioned behind the barrel, contributes to the aesthetic appeal of the Quasar Azure's fully skeletonized movement, while the blue luminous material on the dauphine hour and minute hands and the blue stitching on the strap emphasize the fashionable, monochromatic look.
