Citizen has announced that it has completed a prototype using its proprietary material, Super Titanium™, which is planned to be used for some of the landing gear parts of the lander (lunar lander) for ispace Inc., a private lunar exploration program with which Citizen has a corporate partner agreement, HAKUTO-R.

The surface treatment is resistant to peeling and has excellent durability. Furthermore, Citizen has been particular about not only strength but also the aesthetic beauty of the material used in watches. The unique titanium processing technology, which has been cultivated for 50 years for the practicality and aesthetics of watches, was deemed suitable for use in spacecraft due to its lightness, strength, and smooth material with low friction, and prototypes for lander parts were completed.
