Le Brassus – Swiss luxury watch brand Audemars Piguet has opened the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet to the public. Designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), the new museum integrates the original workshop established by Audemars Piguet's founders in 1875 with the surrounding landscape and two integrated glass spirals. Adjacent to the two workshops where watches are actually made, the museum's collection of 300 watches is on display, creating a truly living museum.
Designed to blend tradition and innovation, the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet will offer visitors a unique experience that unravels the history of watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux and delves into how the brand's timepieces, crafted in Le Brassus, have evolved around the world.
Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet

The Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet is a spiral-shaped pavilion supported by fully curved glass walls, evoking the mainspring of a watch movement. The contemporary spiral is located adjacent to the original 1875 workshop, which served as the Audemars Piguet museum from 1992 to 2019 and is the origin of the Audemars Piguet story. Based on archival research, the historic building's vernacular architecture has been perfectly recreated. The Musée Atelier was built on a concept that combines tradition with a forward-looking ethos at the heart of Audemars Piguet.
Born from nature and living together with people

The museum features a variety of exhibits, including automata, moving installations, life-size models of complex mechanical movements, and explanatory diagrams, all of which are sure to delight any watch enthusiast. As you explore the museum, the rich collection of watches will educate you on the history of Audemars Piguet and watchmaking in the Vallée de Joux. The climax of your visit comes in front of the most complicated watch ever made by Audemars Piguet, displayed at the heart of the spiral.

The spiral houses two specialized ateliers, one for the creation of jewelry watches and the other for the creation of grand complications. Visitors can watch the watchmakers at work within the museum's curved glass walls and witness their expertise.
