18K Pink Gold Complete Calendar Wristwatch Model 4240 – 1947
The original model, "Reference 4240," was redesigned by the Maison as part of the "Historiques" collection in 2017. Released in 1942, "Reference 4240" quickly became an iconic model for the Maison thanks to its instantly recognizable case design with its distinctive "triple gadroon" decoration and "claw"-shaped lugs. Priced at 390 million yen (excluding tax).
This 35mm manual-wound model features discs displaying the days of the week and months in French. It features a two-tone silver dial with a central French display at 12 o'clock, a date display with red Arabic numerals around the periphery, and a small seconds at 6 o'clock. Two examples of this reference were sold at auction in 2019, and another example was sold in Tangier, Morocco, in 1947.
Platinum Open-Face Ultra-Thin Minute Repeater Pocket Watch – 1928
In the early 20th century, platinum became prized for its modern aesthetic, durability, and ease of workability, which facilitated the manufacture of cases. Its rarity and physical properties make it the most precious of materials. A collector's material par excellence, it is said to be pure (over 95%), rare (far rarer than gold), and eternal (it does not oxidize over time). During the Art Deco era, Vacheron Constantin combined platinum with rock crystal, colored gemstones, and openwork movements to create remarkable pocket watches.
Since 1806, Vacheron Constantin has been recognized as a specialist in the manufacture of ultra-thin chiming mechanisms. The first record in the company's archives shows this watch being sold in New York in 1929. It features a silver dial, black enamel Arabic numerals, a small seconds at 6 o'clock, and an outer "railway" minute track. It's an ultra-thin minute repeater. It's manually wound. It's 46mm in diameter and 5.7mm thick. It's priced at ¥580 (excluding tax).
18K pink gold chronograph wristwatch, model 4072 – 1946
The model 4072 is one of Vacheron Constantin's two most successful chronograph models (the other being the model 4178). Its production began in the late 1930s and ended in the early 1970s. During its production, the reference 7072 was equipped with three different chronograph movements: caliber 295, V492, and V434.
Research has revealed that reference 4072, powered by caliber 492, was produced in very limited quantities, with fewer than 100 examples made in pink gold. This 35mm manual-winding model features a white enamel dial with two Arabic numerals, eight gold indexes, a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, a small seconds at 9 o'clock, and a minute track on the outer periphery. It was sold in Geneva in 1947. Price: 476 million yen (excluding tax).
