Two Corum "Golden Bridge 40th Anniversary Models" designed based on past archives

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Golden Bridge collection, which features a linear baguette-shaped movement that symbolizes innovation, Corum has announced two limited edition models based on the original rectangular case design.

　It has also been highly praised by experts, with Elizabeth Doerr, journalist and editor-in-chief of Quill & Pad, a watch specialist media outlet, commenting: "The Golden Bridge is one of the greatest wristwatches of the 20th century. It could be said to be the forerunner of the fully skeletonized models that many watch manufacturers are releasing today. It is an amazing idea to turn the delicately hand-carved, linear movement into a watch itself. It is a wonderful watch that allows you to admire the intricacy and beauty of the movement and the delicate craftsmanship that went into creating it." To commemorate the birth of this long-loved masterpiece, a commemorative model will be released that features special decorations based on the same rectangular case form as the original model.

Past Archives

　The Golden Bridge was born in 1980 in collaboration with renowned independent watchmaker Vincent Calabrese. Despite the dire situation in the mechanical watch industry at the time, it was an immediate success, winning first place at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva and cementing Corum's reputation as a technological feat. Its simplicity, with all components aligned horizontally on a single line and fewer parts than a conventional movement, has captivated people as a unique and original timepiece.

　The first is the "Golden Bridge Rectangle Hand Engraving," which features an elegant botanical pattern hand-carved across the entire 18K white gold case. This pattern follows Style Sapin, a style of Art Nouveau that developed in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where Corum was founded, and features acanthus flowers and ferns as motifs. This pattern has been used on movements since the release of the "Golden Bridge" in 1980, and represents the inheritance of the DNA from the first model. Three pieces will be available worldwide, a reference to the three co-founders involved in the founding of the Corum brand.

　The second is the "Golden Bridge Rectangle," which features a key motif on the sapphire crystal on the case back. This is a reissue design based on past archives, with an 18K rose gold case and 18K rose gold decoration on the glass surface. This material evokes the origins of the Golden Bridge, which was named after the gold movement, which resembles a bridge. To commemorate the 40th anniversary, only 40 pieces will be available worldwide. The limited edition number will be engraved on the inside of the watch case at 3 o'clock.
