The Cape Cod, which also has maritime roots, was born from a casual sketch by Henri d'Origny, Hermès' most free-spirited designer, followed in 1991 by the Nantucket. The Nantucket, which debuted with a powerful form, features a case that goes beyond people's imagination, a rectangle stacked on top of another rectangle. This form was inspired by the links of the Chaine d'Ancre bracelet, a signature Hermès design created by Robert Dumas in 38.
The hands of the watch also tick over typographic numerals inspired by the design of the Chaine d'Ancre. Crafted in the Hermès Horloger workshops, the Nantucket case is available in gold or stainless steel. Diamonds are set freely within the stainless steel case, seemingly competing with one another for their beauty. These discreet diamonds focus the light onto the matte silvered opaline dial, causing it to dance and sparkle around the mother-of-pearl dial. Nantucket exudes a fluid, light-hearted, and unrestrained elegance.
