Kijinkan in Nihonbashi, Osaka, holds Blancpain "Fifty Fathoms" fair

A fair for Blancpain's diver's watch, the Fifty Fathoms, will be held at Kijinkan, an authorized watch retailer in Nihonbashi, Osaka. During the fair period from March 5th to 31st, five purchase benefits will be available, including Blancpain's Le Brassus newsletter, an original strap, and a novelty gift.

The Fifty Fathoms: The prototype of the modern diver's watch

　Located in Nihonbashi, Osaka, Kijinkan is an authorized watch retailer that handles authentic Swiss and German mechanical watch brands such as Ulysse Nardin, Girard-Perregaux, and Parmigiani Fleurier. Each brand has its own dedicated section in the store, offering a full lineup. From March 5th to 31st, Kijinkan will be holding a fair that will highlight Blancpain's classic diver's watch, the Fifty Fathoms.

　One of Kijinkan's recommendations is the titanium model "Fifty Fathoms Automatic." Released in 1953, the Fifty Fathoms is a diver's watch jointly developed by Blancpain and the French Navy. Featuring high water resistance, a rotating bezel with a locking mechanism, and luminous indexes and hands, it is the watch that created the prototype for modern diver's watches.

　Blancpain's use of titanium for case materials dates back to the early 1960s, when it created a special series of "MIL-SPEC II" watches for the U.S. Navy. The Fifty Fathoms Automatic, featuring a titanium case and bracelet with a blue dial, is a full-scale diver's watch with water resistance to 300 meters and a power reserve of approximately 120 hours, making it exceptionally light even among the watches in the collection.
