Blancpain "Fifty Fathoms" Fair held at Hidaka Main Store Pro Shop

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Fair is being held at the Hidaka Honten Pro Shop in Miyazaki Prefecture until March 31st. In addition to the Fifty Fathoms, limited edition Blancpain models released in 2020 and popular standard models are available in store, and there is also a campaign where you can receive a special gift if you purchase a Blancpain watch during the fair period.

Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe for sporting activities

　Hidaka Honten, an authorized watch retailer with two locations in Miyazaki City, is holding a fair until March 31st at its Hidaka Honten Pro Shop, which mainly handles mechanical watches, focusing on Blancpain's diver's watch, the Fifty Fathoms. In addition to the Fifty Fathoms, many other watches from the classic Villeret collection and the women's Women's collection will be on display and for sale. Customers who purchase a Blancpain watch during this period will also receive a special gift.

　Blancpain is a watch brand founded by watchmaker Jean-Jacques Blancpain in the village of Villeret in the Swiss Jura region in 1735. The company remained in the family for nearly 200 years until the death of Frédéric-Emile Blancpain, the seventh generation, in 1932, and is currently based in Le Brassus, Switzerland.

　The Fifty Fathoms, released in 53, is a classic Blancpain diver's watch developed at the request of the French Navy's special diving unit. It was the first diver's watch to feature a locking bezel to prevent accidental operation and antimagnetic features, creating the prototype for the modern diver's watch. Due to its high performance, it was adopted by navies not only in France but also in other countries, and oceanographer Jacques-Yves Cousteau wore this watch in the documentary film "The Silent World."

　In contrast to the professional-oriented Fifty Fathoms, the Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe was released in 1956 as a model for general sporting activities. One of the recommendations from Hidaka Honten Pro Shop is the current Fifty Fathoms Bathyscaphe, a revival of this early model, featuring a meteor gray dial (Ref. 5000-1110-B52A). It combines a clean, modern design with excellent legibility and water resistance to 300m.
