Garmin debuts Approach S42, a GPS golf watch for women

Garmin, the American pioneer of GPS devices, will release the latest model of its wearable golf device, the Approach S42, which combines fashion and functionality, in three colors on March 25, 2021. Pre-orders will begin on March 18.

　Generally, satellite positioning using L1C/A signals such as Michibiki and GPS is said to have a positioning accuracy of around 10m. Until now, Garmin's proprietary technology had improved accuracy to around 3m, but now, by supporting Michibiki L1S, a sub-meter level positioning reinforcement, the accuracy has been further improved to around 1m (according to Garmin research. The error may be larger depending on the satellite position and environment at the time of positioning). In addition to the Approach S42, the flagship model Approach S62, which has more features, is also compatible with Michibiki L1S.

Approach S42

　The lineup includes three models with sophisticated designs and colors that match a variety of fashion styles: "Black/Carbon Gray," "Light Sand/Rose Gold," and "White/Silver." The lightweight body weighs just 43g, and the "Light Sand/Rose Gold" and "White/Silver" models have straps that are approximately 24mm shorter, making them ideal for women.

　The battery lasts up to 15 hours even when using GPS, allowing you to comfortably use it even during long rounds without worrying about battery drain. It's also compatible with Garmin AutoShot, which automatically records shot locations and distances. After the round, you can upload the data to the Garmin Golf app for round data analysis. It's also compatible with the Approach CT10 club tracking sensor, which records every shot, including putting. Viewing not only your shot history but also your latest stats helps you visualize your golf game, undoubtedly contributing to improving your technique.
