The Fufu series of luxury hotels, run by the Kato Pleasure Group, began with the opening of Atami in 2007, followed by Kawaguchiko in 2018 and Nara in 2020. On October 2, 2020, Fufu Nikko opened on the site of the former Tamozawa Imperial Villa annex. Set on sacred ground handed down from the Meiji era, the hotel pays homage to the local climate and offers hospitality in a space that conveys Japanese aesthetic beauty into the modern era. 　The long-awaited luxury hotel "FUFU Nikko" opened on October 2, 2020. Located in the historic Tamozawa area, the hotel welcomes guests with the concept of "Noble Fragrance, Elegant Time, Open Sanctuary."

　Upon entering the entrance, you will be greeted by a warm plum blossom-shaped light and a five-leaf azalea, a symbol of the Japanese imperial family that is used on personal belongings, is enshrined. The main building is an elegant wooden structure that makes extensive use of Douglas fir, cedar, and Oya stone from Tochigi Prefecture, giving it a dignified yet warm feel. The staggered roofs and exterior walls that imitate the clapboard siding of Japanese architecture also carry on a long history and blend in with the scenery of the four seasons.

　All 24 guest rooms are suites, each with its own unique design. The rooms are a modern revival of traditional Japanese style, with attention paid to detail in the carpets, ceilings, wallpaper, lighting, mirrors, and more. Even the gramophones, which become speakers just by placing your smartphone on them, are all individually original, creating a tasteful space.

　All rooms are equipped with hot spring water from the hotel's own source, and there is also a large public bath. The two "Fufu Luxury Premium Suites" have both an open-air bath and an indoor bath. Even while staying in your room, you can fully enjoy the surrounding nature, with the sounds of the river, birdsong, and lush greenery all nearby.

　Food is an essential part of the Fufu series. At Fufu Nikko, two restaurants represent the sacred land of Nikko. Since ancient times, Japan has had the "24 solar terms" that divide the year into 24 and 72 seasons, and the "72 seasonal divisions" that further subdivide these. These beautiful names are used for the dishes and the private rooms where Japanese cuisine is served.

"Japanese Cuisine Setchu" offers a blend of Japanese and Western cuisine, serving kaiseki cuisine that allows you to experience the local area, including the Taisho Emperor's Imperial Villa and Toshogu Shrine. They use sea urchin, Chinese ink, and sea cucumber, which were said to be Japan's three great delicacies during the Edo period, as well as caviar, foie gras, and truffles, which are the world's three great delicacies, to create stunning Japanese cuisine. "Teppanyaki Kou" serves teppanyaki in a setting reminiscent of a state banquet. All dishes will captivate guests with the ingredients, preparation, and tableware unique to "FUFU Nikko."

　The Fufu Lounge, located just inside the entrance, has a calming atmosphere with flickering flames. It is designed to value privacy, allowing guests to spend their time however they like, whether it be enjoying a beer upon check-in or after a bath, champagne before dinner, dessert after dinner, whiskey or wine during bar time, coffee and a book after breakfast, or waiting before check-out. Along with the Fufu series' first afternoon tea, we recommend trying one of four original handmade blends.

　Nikko Toshogu Shrine is known for its two iconic statues: the Three Wise Monkeys (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil) and the Sleeping Cat, but at Fufu Nikko, they have been created to order. The golden Three Wise Monkeys and the silver Sleeping Cat are displayed in all guest rooms as ornaments to welcome guests. The 24 folding fans with different textures, each representing one of the 24 rooms, are also original creations from Bunsendo, a long-established Asakusa store.

　The Fufu series also has an interesting scent that varies from facility to facility. The highly moisturizing organic amenity "YOKOU" has the scent of bergamot and spring flowers. The aroma oil, whose symbol is the shadow of an original incense stand, is SPRING GOLD. You can also purchase souvenirs at the souvenir shop on the first floor so you can enjoy the afterglow of your stay at home.

　FUFU Nikko is filled with rich elements that stimulate the senses. Although it is only two hours from the city center, a one-night stay can leave you feeling incredibly refreshed.
