The latest addition to Sinn's three-hand pilot's watch "104" series, the "104.ST.SA.IG," features an eye-catching metallic green dial with sparkling glitter. While this is an extremely rare finish for a pilot's watch, it adds a touch of glamour to the rugged collection while still maintaining the required practicality. It is scheduled to go on sale in May 2021.

A pilot's watch with a unique lame dial

Sinn has released a new variation of its simple three-hand pilot watch, the 104.

The "104" series continues Sinn's tradition of producing pilot watches, which dates back to the 1960s. It's a three-hand model from the "103" series equipped with a chronograph, and has been highly praised for its easy-to-read dial with a limited number of functions. The technology cultivated during the time when the company produced cockpit clocks is still in full use today, even in the form of wristwatches.

Automatic movement (Cal. SW220-1). 26 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 38 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 41mm, thickness 11.9mm). Water resistant to 200m. Stainless steel bracelet version: 297,000 yen (tax included), leather strap version: 264,000 yen (tax included). Scheduled for release in May 2021.

What catches the eye about the newly announced "104 St. SA IG" is its metallic green dial. Its glossy surface features a unique texture with glitter. The color changes to various shades depending on the light, and the finely granular glitter sparkles.

While it is extremely rare to see a dial like this on a pilot's watch, or even a military watch in general, this is not the first time Sinn has used this dial. The 104 St. Sa. Ag, released in 2019 as a limited edition of 500 pieces, debuted a green, glittery dial.

Due to the scarcity of only 500 pieces, it sold out quickly. The good news is that this new model has been added to the lineup as a regular model rather than a limited edition, making it easier to obtain.

Hearing that it contains glitter might raise concerns about visibility, but there is no need to worry about it in practice. The bar indexes on the dial and the three hands are coated with luminous paint, fulfilling the role of a pilot's watch.

The stainless steel case is water resistant to 200m, despite being a pilot's watch, and the case back is a see-through case back, allowing you to see the Sellita automatic movement SW220-1, with the Sinn brand logo engraved on the gold rotor.

Specially combined rotating bezel

The bezel of this watch is fixed with a special method unique to Sinn. While typical rotating bezels are snap-fit, Sinn watches are securely fastened with three screws on the side of the bezel, so it will almost never come off. The pilot's bezel, used to measure elapsed time, rotates in both directions in minute increments, and the triangular key marks are luminous.

The watch comes with two straps: a stainless steel three-lotus bracelet and a more military-style cow leather. The styles and fit are very different, so it's best to choose the one that best suits your lifestyle.
