Audemars Piguet [2021 New Release] Five Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Models Featuring New Calibers in 43mm Cases

Audemars Piguet is introducing five new models in its Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph collection. These models feature a 43mm case diameter, the new Caliber 4401 with a flyback function, and an easy-change strap system. They are scheduled for release in September 2021.

New case size

　The newly announced Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph features a new 43mm case. This is the first time the series has had a new case since the 44mm model was released in the early 2000s. The updated design incorporates ergonomic elements while retaining the characteristics of the original.

　The case material varies depending on the model, with titanium, stainless steel, and 18KPG versions available. Except for the titanium version, the two-tone color is accentuated by a ceramic bezel. The edges are broadly polished and chamfered, and the contrasting satin-brushed finish enhances the three-dimensional effect. The curves of the ceramic screw-down crown and pushers create a more sophisticated look than ever before.

Caliber 4401, featured for the first time in the Offshore collection

　Developed in 2019 and featured in the CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet collection, the Caliber 4401 is now also featured in the Offshore Chronograph collection for the first time. This latest integrated movement represents the next generation of Audemars Piguet watches and features a flyback chronograph that can be restarted without resetting.

　The caliber 4401 uses a vertical clutch mechanism that prevents the hands from shaking when starting and stopping the chronograph, and it also features a patented zero-reset mechanism that resets all counting hands simultaneously.

　The back cover is see-through, allowing you to see the beautifully decorated parts as well as the hammers and column wheel in action.

A more refined dial

　The Offshore collection's dials have adopted a three-dimensional design called "Mega Tapisserie," which is made up of a series of squares. This time, the pattern has been revised, and the edges that make up the tapestry have become sharper, giving it a greater sense of depth.

　To improve visibility, the chronograph counters are positioned with the minute counter at 9 o'clock, the hour counter at 3 o'clock, and the small seconds at 6 o'clock. Instead of the signature logo, the logo now features an applied "AP" initials at the 12 o'clock position.

New strap change system

　Not only this model, but all other models in the Royal Oak Offshore collection released in 2021 feature the "Double Push System," which allows for easy strap changes. The strap can be attached or detached by pressing the stud protrusions from the case back, either simultaneously or one at a time. This system is designed for safety, eliminating the risk of the strap accidentally coming off while wearing the watch.
