Vacheron Constantin [2021 New Release] "Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar" now available in 18K White Gold case and blue dial

A new model has been released for the Overseas Extra-Thin Perpetual Calendar, which features a perpetual calendar in a case just 8.1mm thick. This model combines a white gold case with a blue dial. The lineup also includes a skeleton version with a blue dial that gives a neat impression and partially exposes the caliber from the dial side.

　Vacheron Constantin has announced new models for Watch & Wonders 2021, including the Overseas Extra-Thin Perpetual Calendar and the openworked Overseas Extra-Thin Perpetual Calendar Skeleton, both of which feature an 18K white gold case and a blue dial.

　This collection, released in 2016, features a thin case, as its name "Extra Flat" suggests. It is a groundbreaking model that houses the complex mechanism of a perpetual calendar, while keeping the movement thickness to just 4.05mm, in a case that is only 8.1mm thick. In addition, a skeleton model with openwork on the dial and movement was released in 20, and won a prestigious award at the Grand Prix de Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) that same year. It fully embodies the Maison's technology and aesthetic design.

　This new model combines an 18K white gold case with a blue dial for the first time. The complex movement is hidden by a blue lacquered dial, and the sunburst-finished surface reflects light beautifully. The design, with its well-balanced perpetual calendar and moon phases clearly visible, gives a refined impression. The movement is the Cal. 1120 QP/1, which consists of 276 parts. Although the power reserve is a little short at 40 hours, it is automatic, so it should not be a problem for daily wear. The transparent case back allows you to see the bridges and other parts, which are finished with the traditional Côtes de Genève.

　The lineup also includes a skeleton model with a sapphire crystal dial, revealing the complex mechanism through the gaps in the blue subdial. By using an openwork process on the parts that make up the movement, the multi-layered structure can be seen, creating a sense of depth despite the thin design. This model also has a transparent case back, allowing viewers to see the rotor and bridges, which have been hollowed out to the maximum extent possible, as well as the internal gears in motion. Both perpetual calendars theoretically require no adjustment until 2100.
