Montblanc [New for 2021] "Montblanc Heritage Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 100" with a brown dial

Montblanc has added a new variation to the Montblanc Heritage Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 100. The 18KRG case and brown dial create a vintage watch-like atmosphere. Only 100 pieces will be sold worldwide.

Vintage-style perpetual calendar

　Montblanc announced a new variation of the Montblanc Heritage Perpetual Calendar Limited Edition 100 at Watches & Wonders 2021. This is the second model following the white dial model unveiled in 2019, and features a new dial in an 18KRG case.

　The domed dial is reminiscent of Minerva's historic watches, and its warm brown hue is reminiscent of vintage timepieces, crafted with the utmost skill and time-consuming craftsmanship.

　First, the central sunray decoration and hour display ring are given a grained finish, and then various colors ranging from beige to brown are applied radiating from the center. Multiple layers of translucent lacquer are applied, from light in the center to darker toward the periphery, to enhance the sunray pattern. As a result, the dial has a rich texture and, combined with the color of the 18KRG case, creates an elegant impression.

　The in-house caliber MB 29.22 used in this watch is made up of 378 pearls, 259 of which are parts related to the perpetual calendar mechanism. Notably, the calendar mechanism does not use any levers to operate it, and instead is made up solely of gears and cams, in contrast to conventional movements.

　This patented new mechanism allows the crown to be adjusted in both directions. This is not possible with a lever mechanism, making it much easier to adjust the perpetual calendar display. Additionally, a safety feature prevents adjustments between 6 PM and 12 AM to prevent the movement from being damaged. The moon phase display is also highly accurate, theoretically requiring no adjustment for 122 years. Montblanc has used numerous gears and cams to create a more practical complication.
