Timex has announced the Timex 80, a modern interpretation of the popular Classic Digital, known for its simple and practical design and functionality. It will be available on Amazon from April 30th, with general sales scheduled for early July.

Retro design with a loyal following

　Timex, the American watch brand with a long history, has added a new variation based on its classic digital watch, the Classic Digital. This model, which was popular in the 1980s and 90s for its simple, practical design and functionality, is compact and uncluttered, with a nostalgic, retro feel that makes it easy to relate to.

　The newly announced "Timex 80" offers a modern interpretation of this "classic digital." The watch has been given a new name and a new look, with the original brand logo placement and graphics being changed. The design, created by Creative Director Giorgio Galli, is based on the company's digital watches, which have been on sale for over 40 years since the 1970s. Drawing inspiration from 80s artwork and retro games, the new watch has a significantly different look compared to the base model.

　While there are no major changes in terms of functionality, the watch remains as practical as ever, with the essential features including time and calendar display, Indiglo® night-light function that illuminates the entire digital display, alarm, timer, etc. The bracelet also uses a metal expansion type that is elastic like rubber, making it easy to put on and take off like a bracelet, achieving a balance between retro and modern styles.

　This model comes in three color variations. The glossy gold and silver colors are eye-catching, and the overall matte black finish is added. The square case, which has the minimum necessary water resistance, is made of resin and stainless steel, and is expected to be lightweight and comfortable to wear. The relatively affordable price of 8,800 yen (tax included) will likely make it a familiar choice for many people.
