Piaget [2021 New Release] "Altiplano Ultimate Concept" Inspired by the Maison's lush birthplace

The Altiplano Ultimate Concept, which debuted in 2020 as the world's thinnest mechanical watch with a case thickness of just 2mm, features a green-based color scheme inspired by the lush landscape of La Côte-aux-Fées, the birthplace of the Maison.

A tribute to the birthplace of the Maison

　Piaget unveiled a new colorway for the Altiplano Ultimate Concept at Watches & Wonders 2021. This model was first unveiled as a concept in 2018, then released commercially in 2020, with variations increasing each year. The entire industry was astonished by the creation and commercialization of a mechanical watch with a case just 2mm thick. It's still fresh in our memory that it won the Golden Hand Award, the highest honor, at the 20th Grand Prix de la Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG20) held in 20.

　The company's history of focusing on the development of thin movements began with the completion of the 9P caliber in 1957. Three years later, the 12P automatic caliber was released, which was the world's thinnest at the time. Over the next half century, the company has repeatedly set records for the thinnest mechanical watches, including automatic, skeletonized, and manual-winding chronographs. The Altiplano Ultimate Concept is the culmination of the company's long history.

　This new model was released as a tribute to La Côte-aux-Fées, the birthplace of Piaget, a town with a long history. Located in the Swiss Jura Mountains, this village is where founder Georges-Édouard Piaget founded the watch brand that bears his name in 1874. The Jura region is rich in nature, with hills and valleys, and La Côte-aux-Fées in particular is covered in forests. The lush green scenery from spring to summer is reflected in the watch's green color.

　The dial, attached to the baseplate that is integrated with the cobalt alloy case, and the surrounding bridges are green, and by matching the color of the alligator strap, a beautiful contrast with the cobalt is created. Between the 2 and 3 o'clock positions, the number "1974", the year the Maison was founded, is engraved.
