Seiko Presage has released a new series, "Style 60's." The lineup includes six models that recreate Seiko's timeless 1960s style and allow you to experience the depth of mechanical watches.
Inheriting the 60s style
Seiko has announced a new series of Presage watches for 2021. This new series, named "Style 60's," features designs that evoke Seiko's vintage style from the 1960s. There are two types: a central three-hand type and a semi-skeleton type with an opening at the 9 o'clock position, each available in three color variations.
Automatic movement (Cal. 4R39). 24 jewels. 21,600 vph. Power reserve approximately 41 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 40.8 mm, thickness 12.8 mm). Water resistant to 5 bar. All prices are 66,000 yen (tax included). Scheduled for release on June 10, 2021.
The design was based on the Crown Chronograph, which was released in 64. This model, the first domestically produced chronograph, featured a box-shaped crystal, which was the mainstream at the time, a dial with wide viewing angles and high visibility, and a solid bezel adorned with Arabic numerals, among other groundbreaking new features.
This new series adds a vintage touch to the Presage series while utilizing the design elements of the Crown Chronograph. The distinctive box-shaped crystal gives it a soft impression, while retaining the three-dimensional indices and sharply shaped hands. The circular embossing around the periphery of the indices not only improves visibility but also changes its appearance depending on the viewing angle.
The colors available are basic black, ivory, which has a vintage feel similar to that of the Crown Chronograph, and green, which is reminiscent of the earth tones that were popular in the 1960s. The ivory color of the Lumibrite applied to the hands further recreates the atmosphere of the time.

The movement is the caliber 4R35 for the three-hand model and the 4R39 for the semi-skeleton model. The former enhances practicality with its calendar function, while the latter allows you to see part of the movement through an opening in the dial, allowing you to enjoy the movement unique to mechanical watches. Also available is a model with a nylon strap, a first for the Presage, which will complement casual outfits.
