Breitling has expanded its Chronomat collection in 2021. The newly announced "Super Chronomat" features a large 44mm case and is available in three variations.

Newly developed in a 44mm case
Breitling has announced the Super Chronomat, a new model in the Chronomat series, for 2021. The watch features a large 44mm case, adding a new size option to the previously available 42mm case, and exudes a powerful presence befitting the "Super" name.

The newly released "Super Chronomat" is broadly divided into three models: the "Super Chronomat B01 44" chronograph model equipped with the Caliber 01, a special model equipped with a UTC module, and the "Super Chronomat 44 Four Year Calendar" equipped with a semi-perpetual calendar. With the exception of the UTC model, customers can choose their favorite watch from a wide variety of combinations of case material, bezel color, and bracelet.
"Super Chronomat B01 44" with a wide variety of models
The Super Chronomat was inspired by the Frecce Tricolori, a watch created by Breitling in 1983 for the Italian Air Force's aerobatic flying team, but the first model in the Chronomat series was released in 84. It was one of the watches that heralded the revival of Swiss mechanical watches after quartz watches took the world by storm in the 70s. Compared to the understated appearance of quartz movements, the Chronomat's large, bold proportions made it a symbol of that era.

Automatic winding (Cal. 01). 47 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 44mm, thickness 14.45mm). 200m water resistant. Stainless steel bracelet model: 1,067,000 yen (tax included), rubber strap model: 1,022,300 yen (tax included).
Like the original Chronomat, this series retains the unique design of the rider tabs on the bezel protecting the sapphire crystal, but now features a bold new 44mm case. It's also the first Chronomat to feature a bezel with a highly scratch-resistant ceramic insert. The rider tabs at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock are interchangeable, allowing for convenient use for both counting up and down the chronograph.
The watch is equipped with the prestigious chronograph movement, Caliber 01, which has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and can be seen through the transparent case back. It is COSC certified, ensuring reliable accuracy.

Automatic winding (Cal. 01). 47 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. 18KRG (diameter 44mm, thickness 14.5mm). Water resistant to 200m. 18KRG bracelet model: Price TBD, rubber strap model: 2,805,000 yen (tax included). Release date for the 18KRG bracelet model has not yet been determined.
There are several variations, including a model with a stainless steel case and a blue or black dial and bezel, as well as a model with an 18K red gold case and a brown bezel and dial. Each model can be paired with a choice of bracelets, offering a rich lineup.
Special model equipped with UTC module
Unlike the regular Chronomat, this model features a UTC module that displays a second time zone on a Rouleaux bracelet, a unique design the company has been using since the 1980s, incorporating a second watch between the case and bracelet, separate from the watch itself.

Automatic (Cal. 01). 47 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 70 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 44mm, thickness 14.45mm). Water resistant to 200m. 4.4 million yen (tax included).
UTC Module
Quartz (Cal. 61). Stainless steel (diameter 26.1 mm, thickness 6.0 mm).
The UTC module placed between the smooth Rouleaux bracelet and the case is powered by the quartz movement Caliber 61. The silver-colored chronograph counters, which contrast with the black dial, and the simple two-hand UTC module enhance visibility. This is Breitling's unique style.

Super Chronomat 44 Four Year Calendar with semi-perpetual calendar

Automatic winding (Cal. 19). 38 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 42 hours. Stainless steel (diameter 44mm, thickness 14.55mm). 200m water resistant. Stainless steel bracelet model: 1,826,000 yen (tax included). Rubber strap model: 1,749,000 yen (tax included).
This model features a semi-perpetual calendar, a mechanism that requires correction every four years for leap years, i.e., once every 1461 days. The chronograph counter is coaxially positioned for optimal balance, and features a moon phase display at 3 o'clock. It is equipped with the COSC-certified Caliber 19, offering a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.

The 100m water-resistant case is available in two variations: one with a black dial and matching chronograph counters in stainless steel with black ceramic inlay, and the other with a blue dial and matching chronograph counters in 18K red gold with a blue ceramic inlay. Each version is also available with a different stainless steel bracelet, the latter of which is paired with 18K red gold.

Automatic winding (Cal. 19). 38 jewels. 28,800 vph. Power reserve approximately 42 hours. Stainless steel + 18KRG (diameter 44mm, thickness 14.55mm). Water resistant to 200m. Stainless steel + 18KRG bracelet model: 2,068,000 yen (tax included). Rubber strap model: 1,903,000 yen (tax included).
Georges Kern, CEO of the company, said:
"This watch is a statement piece, built to withstand a variety of activities without compromising your style."
The Super Chronomat is a versatile sports watch that exudes masculinity and strength, yet is also elegant enough to complement an evening outfit. It is a positive choice for those seeking a watch that is both sturdy and stylish.
