Citizen Attesa collaborates with the private lunar exploration program HAKUTO-R to release two new models

Citizen Attesa will be releasing two collaboration models with the private lunar exploration program HAKUTO-R. The two limited edition models, representing the "pale light of the moon" and the "darkness of the moon," feature three-dimensional dials adorned with black mother-of-pearl and glitter, and a design of stars shining in outer space. They are scheduled to be released on July 8, 2021.

A mission to challenge lunar development

　Citizen's Attesa brand, which leads the way in titanium technology, has announced two limited edition models. These are collaboration models with HAKUTO-R, a private lunar exploration program run by ispace Inc., a corporate partner of Citizen.

　Citizen will contribute to the lunar exploration mission by providing its Super Titanium™, which it developed, for some of the landing gear parts of the lander (lunar lander) being developed for HAKUTO-R. Super Titanium™ is a titanium material that has been treated with the company's proprietary surface hardening technology, Duratect, to achieve a surface hardness more than five times that of stainless steel. Not only is it lightweight and scratch-resistant, it also has the excellent properties of being gentle on the skin.

Two lenses that express the light and dark of the moon

The two new works, inspired by HAKUTO-R's lunar exploration mission, incorporate the light and dark of the moon into their designs.

　The gold-colored CC4016-75E expresses the "pale light of the moon." The case and inner links of the bracelet are made with elegant Duratect MRK Gold, while the bezel and outer links of the bracelet are made with black Duratect DLC, creating a contrast.

　The subdial at 6 o'clock is crafted from natural mother-of-pearl, evoking the changing shadows of the moon's surface. The case back is printed with an image of the HAKUTO-R lander landing on the moon.

　The movement used is the Cal. F950, the top-of-the-line Eco-Drive movement, which achieves the world's fastest time reception of just three seconds. Additionally, the drive speed for automatically adjusting the hour and minute hands is twice as fast as previous models. This is a full-spec model with many functions, including world time and a chronograph capable of measuring to 1/20 of a second.

　The AT8185-71E, with its case, bracelet, and other exterior parts coated in black Duratect DLC, evokes the darkness of the moon. The dial, surrounded by glitter, depicts a detailed lunar surface, and features a subdial at 6 o'clock made of white mother-of-pearl lined with black.

　The gold color is applied not only to the hands but also to the bezel and part of the crown, expressing the light shining through the darkness. The case back also features the HAKUTO-R logo.

　The Cal. H800 movement is equipped with functions that are useful for business people who travel around the world, such as world time, perpetual calendar, and alarm. Eco-Drive radio-controlled watches do not require time adjustment or battery replacement, allowing for stress-free use.
