Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight to be released in an all-bronze model, available exclusively in boutiques

A new bronze model has been added to Tudor's signature collection, the Black Bay Fifty-Eight. Not only the case, but also the bracelet and buckle with adjustment system are bronze, and this model is available exclusively in boutiques.

The essence of Tudor bronze

　Following on from the Watches & Wonders series in April 2021, Tudor has announced a full bronze model of the Black Bay Fifty-Eight. The Black Bay collection is the company's signature collection, and while some models have previously used bronze for the case material, this is the first time that bronze has been used for the bracelet and buckle as well.

　Bronze, once used for ship propellers and diving equipment, is a material prized for its excellent corrosion resistance. At the same time, its surface oxidizes in the air, creating a unique texture over time. The bronze used for the exterior parts of watches develops beautiful colors to match the wearer's lifestyle.

　The newly announced Black Bay Fifty-Eight is made primarily from a bronze and aluminum alloy, and the entire surface of the case and bracelet is satin-finished to prevent discoloration over time.

　The Black Bay's iconic unidirectional rotating bezel and dial are a "bronze brown" color that complements the bronze color. The dial is slightly domed and features a gradient from the outside to the center. The three "snowflake" hands and hour markers, filled with Super-LumiNova, are gold, creating a unified look with the bronze color.

Bronze bracelet with a new system

　This is Tudor's first model to feature a bronze bracelet and buckle. The bracelet is reminiscent of the riveted bracelets produced in the 1950s and 60s. The entire piece is satin-finished and will age evenly, just like the case.

　The buckle features a new cover and the new "T-fit" adjusting system, which allows for fine adjustment of the size. The wearer can adjust the length by 8mm in five steps by simple operation without the need for tools.

The watch also comes with a fabric strap that dramatically changes the look and feel of the watch. Crafted by Julien Faure, a family-run French company for over 150 years, using a 19th-century loom, the strap combines high quality with comfort.

Equipped with an in-house caliber

　The watch is equipped with the Manufacture Caliber MT5400, which has been certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute. This automatic movement with a power reserve of approximately 70 hours is robust and durable. The balance bridge is fitted with a two-point fastening, and the balance with variable inertia screws and a silicon balance spring ensures high precision.

　In fact, COSC chronometer certification requires a daily deviation of -4 to +6 seconds, but Tudor goes even further, setting its own high standards of -2 to +4 seconds per day for completed watches, and only those that meet these standards are shipped.
