Harry Winston's "Project Z" series will be released again this year

Harry Winston has been releasing its "Project Z" series since 2004, and this year it has added a new model. The 15th in the series, "Project Z15," features a modern arrangement with independent regulator displays for the hours, minutes, and seconds. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide, it is scheduled to be released in August 2021.

　Harry Winston has announced the latest addition to its Project Z series, the Project Z15. Launched in 2004, Project Z was the first series in the watch industry to incorporate the special alloy "Zalium" into the case material. Since the first model, new models have been released almost every year, all of which have been limited editions.

　A common thread running through the series is the bold, openwork, three-dimensional dial, designed as a homage to the New York City landscape, where founder Harry Winston established his eponymous jewelry brand in 1932. The blue accents throughout the dial are the brand's color, and are a nod to the Hope Diamond, a 45.52-carat blue diamond the company acquired in 49.

　The newly announced "Project Z15" is no exception, and is instantly recognizable as part of this series. This model features a dial with independent regulator displays for the hours, minutes, and seconds. The minute hand is in the center, the hour hand is on a subdial, and the second hand is retrograde.

　The design is inspired by the skyscrapers and steel structures of large suspension bridges that symbolize 20th century New York, creating a sense of three-dimensional depth. The octagonal design of the bridges on the satin-finished dial is inspired by the shape of the emerald cut, a gemstone that founder Harry Winston loved the most.

　The minute track is laid out around the outer edge of the dial, so the subdials are slightly smaller than those of previous models in the collection, but legibility is not compromised thanks to the thick hour and minute hands and red second hand, as well as the luminous coating on the hour indexes and the indexes inside the minute track.

The movement, Cal. HW3207, installed in the "Project Z15" can not only be seen through the transparent case back, but is also part of the openworked dial. The Côtes de Genève patterns radiating from the center of the dial create a variety of different expressions, and the cams, springs, and other parts that make up the retrograde mechanism at 6 o'clock are also exposed.

　The regulator, retrograde, and automatic winding mechanisms are made up of 226 parts, and the watch has a power reserve of approximately 65 hours.The use of a silicon balance spring ensures high accuracy over a long period of time and is anti-magnetic.
