Jaquet Droz introduces the new Grande Seconde Skeleton Tourbillon, featuring even greater transparency.

Jaquet Droz has unveiled the new Grande Seconde Skeleton Tourbillon, a new interpretation of its signature Grande Seconde model. The movement has been skeletonized to the extreme, allowing light to pass through, making it even more transparent.

A modern, light-transmitting skeleton watch

　Jaquet Droz has announced the Grande Seconde Skeleton Tourbillon as a new model for 2021. This is not the first time the brand has produced a skeleton watch.

　In 2018, the year the brand celebrated its 280th anniversary, it released the Grande Seconde Skeleton, a modern interpretation of the Grande Seconde collection, which continues the design codes of founder Pierre Jaquet-Droz. The watch features a sapphire crystal dial, which maximizes transparency, suggesting a new approach for the brand.

　The newly announced Grande Seconde Skeleton Tourbillon can be considered an evolved version of that watch. Equipped with a tourbillon, a complex mechanism, it embodies the brand's spirit.

　The newly developed movement, Cal. Jaquet Droz 2625SQ, has a structure reminiscent of modern sculpture or architecture. The baseplate that supports the entire mechanism distributes the forces acting on the movement, ensuring optimal strength despite the skeletonized design.

　In addition, it was designed with the concept of maximum transparency and light capture in mind. It is a single barrel with a minimalist mechanism, but it has a power reserve of approximately 168 hours (7 days).

　The entire movement is finished in black with fine graining on the surface. The tourbillon carriage, which rotates once per minute, has a unique shape with radial pillars that matches the movement's geometric design.

　The sapphire crystal dial adheres to the design codes of the Grande Seconde, highlighting its figure-8 shape. Above it are the 18K red gold hands, polished to a mirror finish, with the second hand fixed to the tourbillon axis.
