Jaquet Droz unveils the new Grande Seconde Skeleton Tourbillon "Only Watch," a watch with a captivatingly transparent dial.

Jaquet Droz has announced a unique piece that will be put up for auction at the charity auction "Only Watch," scheduled to be held on November 6, 2021. The dial is made of plique-à-jour enamel, which transmits light brilliantly like stained glass.

A unique piece for only one watch

　Jaquet Droz has announced a unique piece created for its ninth charity auction, "Only Watch," in 2021. Based on the new model "Grande Seconde Skeleton Tourbillon," just released in July 2021, this watch features a special dial not found in the standard model, and only one piece has been made.

　The Grande Seconde, which inherited the design created by Pierre Jaquet-Droz, the brand's founder, aimed to read the time with high precision by placing a large off-center second hand. The design on the dial, in which the hour, minute and second hands overlap and form a figure eight, is one of the brand's iconic elements.

　The new Grande Seconde Skeleton Tourbillon "Only Watch" is a modern interpretation of that idea, incorporating a tourbillon for greater precision. The movement is made of titanium to reduce weight, while the balance spring and pallet are made of silicon.

　The newly designed movement, Cal. Jaquet Droz 2625SQ, is skeletonized to the utmost. Its modern structure, composed of straight lines, allows you to admire every detail of its intricate movement. Despite its relatively simple structure, it has a power reserve of approximately 168 hours (approximately 7 days).

Stained-glass-like plique-à-jour enamel

　Jaquet Droz's decorative department, the Ateliers d'Art, crafted a single plique-à-jour enamel dial to incorporate into this unique piece. Plique-à-jour enamel, known for its stained-glass-like translucent appearance, is a technique used by very few brands.

　The base white gold plate is made up of linear, geometrical partitions, into which enamel is poured using a unique technique, and then repeatedly fired in a high-temperature kiln to create a glossy, flat dial.

　The dial colors combine red, orange, and yellow to represent the values ​​that Only Watch Auction advocates for: luck, passion, energy, and optimism.
