Ulysse Nardin is currently running a pop-up area at the watch specialty store ISHIDA Omotesando. The event, which will run until October 12, 2021, will feature a corner within the store that expresses the brand's worldview, with many collections on display, from new releases this year to rare models that are rarely available.

The best selection in the Kanto region

　Ulysse Nardin will be running a pop-up area at ISHIDA Omotesando from July 17th, 2021 until October 12th. Located on the main street of Omotesando, a lively area where fashionable people gather, this watch specialty store is easily accessible from nearby stations.

　Utilizing the spacious basement floor of ISHIDA Omotesando, the store will proudly display a space that expresses the world of Ulysse Nardin.

　Ulysse Nardin watches are attractive, but the only stores nationwide where you can see many of them in person are limited in number. Permanent stores only have around 15 watches. This event, one of the largest in the Kanto region, will feature a collection of around 20 watches. This year's new models, in particular, will be on display earlier than watch fairs at department stores, offering a chance to see and purchase them early.

The featured model is "Freak Vision"

　This event will also feature models that are rarely seen in Japan. The Freak Vision introduced here is a limited edition model released in 2018 with only 300 units available, and only one will be available during the event (as of the time of writing).

　First introduced in 2001, the Freak collection generously incorporates Ulysse Nardin's innovative technology and incorporates unique time displays and mechanisms. The flying carousel, which can be said to be the "face" of the Freak, serves as the minute hand and rotates once every hour.

　Another distinctive feature of the Freak is the lack of a crown. To set the time, unlock the bezel and turn it, and to wind the mainspring, turn the back cover in one direction.

The Freak Vision-specific three-dimensional curved upper bridge is inspired by the hull of a boat, a design characteristic of Ulysse Nardin, which has its roots in the sea. The Ulysse Anchor escapement, made of silicon, operates within the hull and also functions as a constant force device.

　The automatic winding mechanism also incorporates a unique system called a grinder, which links the rotor with a frame consisting of four arms, resulting in approximately twice the winding efficiency of a conventional watch.

Freak's entry model "Freak X"

The Freak X was released in 2019. It was the first Freak collection model to feature a crown for adjusting the time and winding the mainspring, which kept the price down. Priced at around 300 million yen, it is the entry-level model in the collection.

　However, it still retains the elements that characterize the Freak, such as the flying carousel that is synonymous with the Freak and the silicon parts used around the escapement. The 43mm diameter case is made of carbonium, which is also used in the aerospace industry. The modest case size and the use of lightweight materials have improved the wearing comfort. This is the most approachable Freak to date.

New for 2021: Diver Lemon Shark

The "Diver Lemon Shark" is a new model announced to coincide with World Oceans Day on June 10th this year. It is a new variation of the "Diver 42mm" series and is a limited edition model with only 300 pieces produced. The design, which combines a black DLC-coated case with a bright yellow color, is a homage to the lemon shark.

　The movement is the Cal. UN-816, a customized version of a general-purpose movement. The escapement uses silicon parts manufactured in-house, contributing to the durability of the components. The included strap is made from recycled fishing nets.

The movie features this year's hottest new product, the "Diver X Skeleton," the unusual clock "UFO," and the "Blast Hour Striker," which features an evolved striking mechanism.
