Bovet unveils new Miss Audrey Sweet Art watch, the first in history to feature a sugar dial

Bovet has unveiled the new Miss Audrey Sweet Art, a first in watchmaking history, using pure sugar for the dial. This ambitious piece, made with an unprecedented material, is available in multiple colors, each of which is essentially a one-of-a-kind piece.

A genuine "Sugar Dial"

　For 2021, Bovet has unveiled the ambitious Miss Audrey Sweet Art, featuring a sugar dial. Bovet has used a wide variety of materials and techniques for its dials, including precious metals, enamel, miniature painting, guilloché, engraving, mother-of-pearl, and aventurine, in pursuit of beauty throughout its more than 200-year history.

　In 2021, a new technique was born in the history of Bovet dial crafting. A watch made from pure sugar has never been produced before, and it's hard to believe your eyes. The result is a unique and captivating dial that stands out from all other watches.

　The idea for the Miss Audrey Sweet Art was conceived by brand owner Pascal Raffy, who has been at the helm of Bovet for 20 years. The aim was to express the sweetness of love and the purity of children who love sweets through the dial. While sugar is a food ingredient that dissolves in water or heat, the company overcame this weakness through a unique patented process.

How to make a "Sugar Dial"

　The sugar dials on these watches are extremely difficult to create, and the work is carried out by Bovet's miniature painters, taking an incredibly long time to complete.

　Pure sugar grains are individually selected to prevent deformation or discoloration when exposed to light or heat, then selected grains of the right size are mixed with a special paint and arranged on the base of the dial.

　This process is patented, and although it is delicate work, no mistakes are allowed. If there is any defect in the process, it will have to be started over from the beginning. Each piece is painted in solid colors or gradients using special paints, and is completed as a unique piece.
