OMEGA presents Yukiko Ueno with a watch to celebrate her Olympic victory

OMEGA welcomed Yukiko Ueno, who won a gold medal in softball at the Tokyo Olympics, to the Sky Lounge and presented her with a watch as a token of congratulations. She also expressed her gratitude to her family, team, and fans.

　With just a few days left until the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Omega, the official timekeeper of the event, welcomed Yukiko Ueno, a gold medal-winning softball player from Japan, to the Ginza Sky Lounge. To celebrate her victory, Omega Business Unit Director Saori Oki presented Ueno with a watch.

　Regarding the Olympics, Ueno repeatedly expressed her gratitude, saying, "The return of softball at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics was a great motivation for me. I'm grateful to my team, coach, parents, and fans, and I'm also very grateful to be able to stand on the mound again."

　Omega Business Division General Manager Saori Oki asked, "Ueno's calm demeanor on the mound was very impressive, but did you still have any trouble controlling your nervousness?"

　In response, Ueno said, "I think I was enjoying the tension, imagining that I was really holding on to it and turning it into power." She continued forcefully, "I had done what I had to do, so I think I had no choice but to compete as my true self."

What is the watch given to Ueno?

　The model presented to the athlete above is the Seamaster Planet Ocean Tokyo 2020 Limited Edition, a limited edition model created to commemorate the Tokyo Olympics.

　The most distinctive feature of this watch is its coloring, which is inspired by the Japanese flag, the Hinomaru, with a white base and red accents. In honor of the year of the Olympic Games, the number 20 on the rotating bezel is painted in liquid ceramic, and the lollipop-shaped second hand is also painted red.

　The 39.5mm stainless steel case is water resistant to 600m and features a white ceramic dial and bezel ring. The case back, which allows you to see the movement of the Cal. 8800 automatic movement with a highly precise Co-Axial escapement, is adorned with the Olympic logo, giving it a special feel.
