OMEGA presents a watch to table tennis player Jun Mizutani for his outstanding performance at the Tokyo Olympics

OMEGA welcomed Jun Mizutani, who won the gold medal in the mixed doubles table tennis event at the Tokyo Olympics, to the OMEGA Sky Lounge to present him with a watch. The company also celebrated his success in the tournament and his remarkable achievement of competing in four consecutive Olympics.

Leading the Japanese table tennis world

　As the official timekeeper of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, OMEGA is honoring the athletes who performed brilliantly and achieved outstanding results at the tournament. The tournament concluded on August 8, 2021. On the day before, OMEGA welcomed Jun Mizutani, who won two medals in table tennis - a gold medal in the mixed doubles and a bronze medal in the men's team event - to the OMEGA Sky Lounge.

　Mizutani and Mima Ito defeated the powerful Chinese team in the mixed doubles at this tournament, winning the gold medal. She also announced her intention to retire. She has competed in four consecutive Olympic Games and led the Japanese table tennis world. In recognition of her achievements, she was presented with a watch.

　Mizutani, who visited the Omega Sky Lounge at the Nicolas G. Hayek Center in Ginza, which was open during the Olympics, was wearing a Seamaster Diver 300m Tokyo 2020 Special Edition watch on his right arm.

　Regarding the men's team match held the day before his visit, he spoke calmly about his strong feelings about the tournament and the sense of accomplishment he felt in making it a reality.

"I lost two points in the semi-finals and didn't make it to the finals, so I was determined to win the bronze medal on my own in the third-place match. I'm really glad that it turned out that way."

A commemorative model worn by a gold medalist

　The Seamaster Diver 300m Tokyo 2020 Special Edition presented to Mizutani this time is, as its name suggests, a model created to commemorate the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

　The watch features a ceramic bezel ring indigo, a traditional Japanese color that is also used in the official emblem of this tournament, and a white ceramic dial. The stainless steel case is 42mm in diameter and has a practical water resistance of 300m. The transparent case back is also decorated with the tournament emblem.
