The new Citizen model, equipped with Citizen's most anticipated Caliber 0200, will be released on August 26th!

The release date for the all-new mechanical model "The Citizen Mechanical Model Caliber 0200," announced by Citizen in March 2021, has been decided. It will be available at select stores nationwide from Thursday, August 26th, and the regular model is currently on display at the Citizen flagship stores in Tokyo and Osaka.

The long-awaited new mechanical model is finally released

　Citizen will release three new "The Citizen Mechanical Model Caliber 0200" models equipped with the new mechanical movement, Caliber 0200, exclusively at select stores from August 26, 2021. This year marks Citizen's full return to the luxury mechanical watch genre, and these models have attracted the attention of enthusiasts.

　The Caliber 0200 fitted to The Citizen's latest model is Citizen's first in-house developed mechanical movement in approximately 11 years since the production of the 90 series in 2010. Produced in cooperation with La Joux-Perret, a movement manufacturer under the Citizen Group, this movement achieves a high level of accuracy of -3 to +5 seconds per day, exceeding the certification standard for Swiss chronometer testing.

　Not only does it feature beautifully finished parts, utilizing La Joux-Perret's expertise, but it also boasts specifications worthy of being called a luxury watch. The balance, which determines accuracy, is free-sprung, and escapement parts such as the anchor and escape wheel are manufactured using the LIGA method. The automatic winding system is a one-sided winding system that is said to be easy to wind even with minimal arm movement, and the short power reserve, which was previously a drawback, has been successfully extended to approximately 60 hours.

　The movement isn't the only thing that symbolizes the newness of this model. The lugless design, which creates a seamless connection between the case and bracelet, was inspired by Citizen's archives and is also a finish typical of high-end watches. The case design, composed of multiple flat and curved surfaces, creates a powerful impression, and the contrast between the rough satin finish and the mirror finish is striking. The case diameter is 40mm, which is just the right size for a comfortable fit on Japanese wrists.

　This model comes in three dial colors: black for the regular model, blue, and white for the limited edition. The black and white dials feature patterns created using an electroforming technique, with fine irregularities creating unique shadows. On the other hand, the blue dial features a glossy finish with a sunray pattern that has been polished with a coating. The contrast in texture with the small seconds hand is also a sight to behold.
