The CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet now features a new smoked blue lacquer dial

Audemars Piguet has added two new chronograph and automatic models to its "CODE 11.59 by Audemars Piguet" collection. Both models feature 18K white gold cases and smoked blue lacquer dials with sunburst patterns. This rich dial color was first introduced in 2020 with an 18K pink gold case.

Contemporary structure

　The two new models feature 18K white gold cases with a complex architecture: an octagonal middle case sandwiched between an ultra-thin bezel and a round caseback. The crystal-side of the stylish lugs is welded to the ultra-thin bezel, while the back-side of the lugs gently rests against the caseback. This contemporary architecture is further enhanced by finishes such as satin-brushed and polished chamfers, which are the same as the finest finishes used on manufacture movements.

Signature made of a thin layer of gold

　The prestigious Audemars Piguet signature on the dial is achieved through a chemical process called electroforming, which is similar to 3D printing. Layers of 24K gold are applied to create a miniature logo that displays the beautiful lettering of the signature. Each letter is connected by links thinner than a hair. The signature is then hand-attached to the dial and secured by tiny feet invisible to the naked eye.

The Art of Transparency

　The double-curved, anti-reflective sapphire crystal is remarkable from both a technical and aesthetic standpoint. The inside of the sapphire crystal has a dome-like curve, while the outside has a vertical curve from 12 to 6 o'clock. This complex double curve creates an unexpected visual effect while highlighting the details of the dial. The ultra-thin bezel is smoothly integrated into the crystal, giving the watch a graceful arch and creating a contemporary profile. The polished chamfers around the sapphire crystal complement the sharp lines of the bezel, lugs, and case, creating a beautiful harmony.
