Audemars Piguet Adds Two New Models to the Royal Oak Frosted Gold Chronograph

Audemars Piguet has unveiled two new Royal Oak Frosted Gold Chronograph models. Both are powered by the latest-generation chronograph movement, Caliber 4401, visible through a sapphire caseback. Available in 18K white or pink gold, the two 41mm timepieces feature black or blue dials with a Grande Tapisserie pattern and counters in the same color as the case.

Color contrast

　The two new watches feature case and bracelet colors that match the tone of the counters on the "Grande Tapisserie" dial. The white gold model features a black dial with contrasting rhodium-colored counters, while the pink gold model features a blue dial with contrasting pink gold-colored counters. The color contrast makes the displays easy to read and exudes a modern, elegant feel. The applied hour markers and Royal Oak hands with luminescent coating are crafted from 18K gold and also match the case color. The minute and hour counters have been repositioned to improve readability, and the date window has been moved slightly closer to the inner bezel.

Bringing the craftsmanship of jewelry to watches

　The case and bracelet are finished in Frosted Gold with polished bevels. This creates an even more intricate interplay of sparkle, capturing and reflecting light with a delicate touch. Frosted Gold is a hammering technique inspired by ancient Florentine jewellery techniques, which Carolina Bucci has used in her contemporary jewellery creations. Together with the Manufacture's craftsmen, Carolina Bucci researched and adapted this technique to the Royal Oak case and bracelet, resulting in a "diamond dust" shimmering effect. This is achieved by hammering the case and bracelet with diamond-tipped tools. This artisanal technique creates countless tiny indentations in the gold surface, giving it the sparkle of a precious stone.

A fully integrated chronograph

　Powering this watch is the latest-generation automatic chronograph movement, caliber 4401, visible through the transparent case back. The chronograph, complete with axle gears and flyback function, is fully integrated into the movement. The axle gears work in conjunction with a vertical clutch system to ensure the seconds hand runs precisely and without any jitter when starting or stopping the chronograph. Furthermore, the push-pieces offer a smooth feel when pressed. A patented zero-reset mechanism allows each counter hand to be instantly reset to zero.
