Chopard Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF: Ultimate precision with twice the vibration frequency of a regular automatic movement

The Alpine Eagle Collection, first released in 2019, quickly became a popular model and has grown into a defining luxury sports timepiece. Now, with a diameter of 41mm and a thickness of 9.75mm, the Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF is crafted from lightweight, highly durable titanium and equipped with an exceptional caliber. Its vibration frequency of 8Hz per second is twice as fast as that of a standard automatic movement.

High-frequency movement

　The Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF is lightweight, comfortable, and practical, boasting a 60-hour power reserve and certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The dial features two unique displays that draw the eye: the words "8Hz CHRONOMETER" beneath the "CHOPARD" brand logo, and below that is the dynamic arrow-shaped logo, the signature of Chopard's ultra-high-frequency watches. This special logo is also featured on the sapphire crystal caseback, revealing the caliber, which beats at 57,600 vibrations per hour.

High vibration = accuracy

　Wristwatches are constantly subjected to shocks throughout their lives, which affect the frequency of their balance. However, statistically, the faster the balance wheel's frequency, the less impact shocks have on the average rate. Furthermore, because a high frequency also means a faster rate, it quickly restores isochronism. In 2012, Chopard began producing the industry's first chronometer-certified watch with a high-frequency movement. The caliber LUC 01.06-L was installed in the titanium LUC 8HF, limited to 100 pieces. This model became a true collector's item and further enriched the LUC collection. Chopard's high-frequency movements have evolved into the Chopard 01.12-C, a central rotor automatic movement that is now featured in the Alpine Eagle collection.

　The dial of the Alpine Eagle Cadence 8HF features an "Eagle Iris" pattern, paying homage to the majestic and sharp vision of the majestic bird of prey that inspired the collection. However, its hue differs from the rest of the collection, as each piece is uniquely crafted through a hand-painted patina. The "Vals Grey" color is inspired by the name of Vals, a village in the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, famous for its distinctive quartzite roofs.

Caliber "Chopard 01.12-C"

　The Chopard 01.12-C caliber uses monocrystalline silicon to generate a high frequency of 8Hz per second. This lightweight, oil-free material is used for all parts that are subject to intense friction, such as the pallet fork, escape wheel, and impulse pin, minimizing the generation of friction. This eliminates the need for oiling, a traditional watch maintenance routine, and extends the life of the movement.
